Nigerian sexiest rapper, Idris Oluwatosin Omoniyi, better addressed as D’Code, is the younger brother of beautiful actress cum filmmaker, Folashade Omoniyi popularly known as Lepa Shandy, who has been doing well in his career since he started out about six years ago.
However, the talented rapper has come out point blank that he’s not living on the glory of his sister. He added that he has been on his own since he came into the industry.
Speaking with a group of journalists recently after returning from his tour of three Afrixan countries; South Africa, Zimbabwe and Kenya, the Lagos based singer gave thanks to God and his fans for the success of the trip which has actually added to his rising profile in the industry while he also pledged not to relent on his efforts till getting to his desired height in the entertainment industry.
“I give thanks to Almighty God for always being there for me. If not Him and my fans that have also been boosting my morale, I wouldn’t have been where I am today.”
On his trip to South Africa, Zimbabwe and Kenya, the sexy singer said, “Everything about D’Code is God. The success of the trip is God. I never knew I could be that accepted outside Nigeria, but when I travelled to these three countries, I got to know how much love they have for my brand of music. Actually, my performance, especially in South Africa and Zimbabwe was on another level. And I became a topic of discussion throughout my stay and even after leaving the countries. It’s not by my making but God has perfected everything for me. In fact, the tour really moved my career up the ladder which I must consolidate on.”
On his new single, My Story, which its video has been ruling the airwaves since its release a couple of days back, the unstoppable rapper stated excitedly, “Yes o! The video of my new single, ‘My Story’ is out already and is enjoying massive attention on air. As a matter of fact, many TV channels, both terrestrial and digital are airing it. I knew it was a good job, but I didn’t know it could blow to that level. I have been receiving a lot of commendations from the public since it was released few days ago. I thank God for everything.”
Reacting to the tale making the rounds that his success has been largely dependent of his sister, Lepa Shandy’s fame, D’Code stated unequivocally; “There’s nothing like that. Although, Lepa Shandy is my very good sister, I am not riding on her back. Maybe, the fact that she struggled on her own to get to where she’s today has also encouraged me to struggle on my own to get to where I am now as well. But one thing that’s certain is that we’re not quarrelling. She’s my very good sister. She even gave me the name, Household, for my personal record label after quitting my previous label. If you listen to my new single, I have cleared the air on that. And that’s one of the reasons it’s titled, ‘My Story’.”
